I read it cover to cover, and will be keeping it for future reference. It feels strange to say that about a book focused on the musculature and bone structure of the human foot, but it's true.

For one thing, Katy Bowman has a great sense of humor, and that makes the topic way more lively and entertaining that I ever would have thought possible. Whole Body Barefoot is such a book, and I would strongly encourage every bipedal human being on the planet to pick up a copy I truly admire anyone who can make me laugh and learn at the same time, especially when it comes to my favorite subject of all, the body. I also enjoy someone who has the ability to take sophisticated and sometimes confusing terms or principles and break them down into practical bits of information that are applicable to daily life.

Whole Body Barefoot does this time and again, and it's one of the most important reasons I adore the book the so much. This is a very informative book on the benefits of Bowman walking women barefoot or in minimal shoes. I'm a true fan of minimal foot wear but developed tendonitis in one foot a year ago. It was bad enough that I asked my doctor about it and he sent me to an orthopedic specialist, who recommended specific exercises to relieve the tendon, and also gasp!

I faithfully did the exercises but really didn't want to wear orthotics, so I opted for Chaco sandals, which have a good molded arch support. I wore them through the warm weather, and used the information in this book to strengthen the foot. It all worked and now I'm pain-free in minimal shoes. The book has a LOT of good information and Ms.

Bowman is also a fan of minimal footwear. My problem with orthotics is that they certainly do alleviate pain in your arches, but the do nothing to solve the problem, they just manage the symptoms. I wanted to be pain-free barefoot. With the help of the information in this book, I achieved that goal. You've read them all. I have purchased several books by Katy Bowman and I wish I had not bought as many because, quite frankly, the amount of repetition of the same content with different words some times not even as different is astonishing.

I get some overlapping here and there but this much rehashing is almost dishonest. That said, if I had to recommend a book from her, it would be this one because it's the one with the least for her beating around the bush and the most practical advice and actual exercises at the end. That said, this book could be half the s and nothing would be lost. All I get from the podiatrist is "Yep, they're flat.

While those do the job, I'd like Bowman walking women be able to wear less shoe and not risk knee problems. The flat feet have already given me rough and crunchy cartilage under the kneecaps. It seems this book is the motivation and info I needed. For two weeks I've been doing Katy's recommended stretching and exercises. Equipment investment is minimal Paying attention to how one walks is the key. Feet straight ahead, femurs neutral, not letting them rotate inwards. Sure enough, this keeps my feet from flattening out.

It felt pretty weird for a few days but I got used to Bowman walking women. The only annoyance I ran into was some numbness in the little toes and outer edge of my feet from the extra weight being placed on that area. But now two weeks in that's starting to fade and no other strange feelings have developed. It's even to the point now where walking the old way like I've been for 38 years feels weird. I even did a 10 mile hike with some good elevation changes last weekend, working on my new gait the whole time. I was in my boots and orthotics still so I could give things a little rest if needed.

Next up, I'll be getting some zero-lift shoes so I can still have my orthotics for weight lifting just as a little backup until things get stronger. Otherwise it's gonna be FiveFingers unless I need toe protection, ski boots, or something like that. She's unstoppable! I always thought about putting together some sort of instruction about how to transition to minimalist shoes.

Of course, I never did, which is a good thing because someone way more qualified than me did and she did a much better job of it too!

Whole Body Barefoot is yet another tool that needs to be in my Wellness Practitioner tool bag. This book is a quick and fun read but most of all it has correctives and exercises you can incorporate right away. Bowman walking women perfect example of this is as soon as I read about interlacing your fingers with your toes to work on toe separation, I was able to actually do it right then and there. Fine, skip to the part of the book that just covers the correctives and get to work. This book's value lie within the last twenty s or so called "The Program.

The rest of the book was poorly edited and extremely redundant. This book did not reveal anything revolutionary. I actually learned more about how to take care of my feet and body from You Tuber, Jeff Cavaliere, than this book and it was free!

I am somewhat disappointed and will sell this book or donate it to Goodwill. Whether you're interested in the paleo barefoot shtick or not, this book is a must read just because it explains how to walk properly, and why we're Bowman walking women not doing it right. Most of us do not walk on our feet properly, as a side effect of modern lifestyles where we wear constricting shoes all day and spend too much time sitting.

This is a short book, but it gets right to the point and there isn't any fluff. The first half is theory, and the second half is a list of exercises you can do at home to improve your posture and foot health. Katy explains in layman's terms what's wrong with our lazy foot muscles, why it's wrong, and how to fix it with strengthening exercises. I have been standing and walking the way Katy describes for about a month and my arches are starting to lift after being flat footed my whole life.
